Recipe: Pomelo and Grapefruit Gin & Tonic
I am a sucker for a good gin & tonic. I fell in love with this cocktail when I was traveling through the United Kingdom. Being allergic to most distilled liquors, I usually avoid hard liquor at all costs. However gin and tequila are the ones that don't cause me to break out in hives. I love experimenting with infused tonics and gins.
This super citrus-infused gin & tonic is one of those reviving drinks that can be enjoyed before, during, and after dinner. It’s very light and aromatic so it’s almost like flavored water… except for the fact that it has gin and a few other ingredients to make it extra special.
I really recommend you find good quality tonic water, the brand called Fever Tree is actually amazing and available at most markets, but if you find any gourmet kind, go for it. Avoid at all costs using cheap tonic water (like the ones they sell at 7-11). It’s not about being boujee, it actually has a really funky aftertaste.
By the way, make sure to use the skin on the pomelo, the flesh tastes pretty mild, and the skin or rind has tons of flavor and floral tones.

Pomelo and Grapefruit Gin & Tonic
1 bunch fresh basil
1 bunch fresh thai basil
1 bunch mint
Edible flowers to garnish
1. Wash the pomelo and grapefruit and cut in small wedges. Also cut some of the rind from some of the wedges and set aside.
2. To make each drink put some ice in a glass, add a shot of gin, a slice of each pomelo and grapefruit and a little piece of their rind. Top with tonic water and garnish with basil, mint, and edible flowers. Serve immediately.
Note: if you’d like to add a touch of sweet, add a touch of agave or simple syrup!
